"VNIINM, JSC" is the scientific center of competence of the industry integrator for decommissioning of nuclear and radiation-hazardous facilities, which was formed on the basis of JSC TVEL and is also engaged in the implementation of projects for rehabilitation of territories, development of new safe technologies in the field of decontamination, dismantling and RW management.
The Institute conducts scientific research and provides methodological support, including the development of technical and technological solutions, methods and regulations for decommissioning of nuclear radiation-hazardous facilities, as well as for RW management.
"VNIINM, JSC" develops equipment for decontamination of radiation-contaminated equipment, premises, building structures of buildings and facilities. This includes decontamination of contaminated materials by chemical, mechanical, thermal or combined methods, as well as sorting and decontamination of soils.
The Institute was the first in the industry to certify its quality management system according to international standards in the area of R&D, as well as the development of technologies for decommissioning of nuclear and radiation-hazardous facilities, RW management and decontamination.
In the period from 1998 to 2023, an internal program for decommissioning of nuclear and radiation-hazardous facilities were successfully implemented at the Institute. The most complex facilities were the projects for decommissioning of the research building B, Zh, and the U-5 facility, which was the first in the USSR to produce plutonium in a semi-industrial way.
